About Me

I am a professional illustrator and author, whose book Coney - A Trip to Luna Park is forthcoming from Flying Rabbit Press in November 2022. Coney is a 48-page, fully illustrated picture book; printed offset in hardcover. I worked for many years in the children’s book industry as an artist creating many illustrations for all genres of children’s books. I am excited to have the ability to publish my own book using today’s technology.

I have been interested in the history and magical appeal of Coney Island for years. Both the narrative and the artwork in my book pay homage to the neighborhood’s growth and development and to the enchantment of Luna Park at the turn of the last century. My goal is for children both within and outside of Brooklyn to glimpse, maybe for the first time, the rich and textured history and extraordinary self-invention that is Coney Island.

For the past twenty years, I have also been teaching art and design as an adjunct professor at several colleges in the New York City metropolitan area. Currently teaching illustration and computer graphics at Kean University in New Jersey since 2002, I have shared my book progress with his students to encourage them to tell their own stories.

After living in Brooklyn for thirty years I am now living with my family in South Orange NJ, just a stones throw from Brooklyn.
